    Double-click on Windows; on macOS and Linux, add execute permission first.

    Bi opens the workbench in your browser on launch.

Run permissions on macOS and Linux

The macOS and Linux builds are not executable out of the box, so a double-click or direct run may fail with "permission denied". Open a terminal in the download folder and run the commands for your system (swap amd64 for the arch you downloaded; Apple Silicon uses arm64).

macOS

The macOS build is unsigned; if Gatekeeper blocks it, add execute permission and then remove the quarantine flag:

chmod +x bi-darwin-amd64
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine bi-darwin-amd64
./bi-darwin-amd64

Linux

Linux only needs execute permission:

chmod +x bi-linux-amd64
./bi-linux-amd64

FAQ

Do I need to install anything?

No. Download it and run — there is nothing else to install.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

Not to a Bi server — Bi has no server. Sessions, files and the database stay in the local .bi directory; if you configure a remote model provider, conversation content is sent to the model endpoint you chose.

Is there a system tray on macOS and Linux?

Not yet. Windows ships a tray; macOS and Linux run in service mode with the UI in your browser.
